✨ “Does it really work this quickly? The next morning he wasn't coughing!” Catherine W.

Overview
Coughing is a perfectly normal, healthy reflex the body uses to clear the airways of irritations, i.e. bacterial/viral microorganisms, via mucous, the lungs' natural secretion.
Sadly, there's not a lot we can do to prevent these organisms invading, but we need them shifted out before they start replicating and turning into an infection.
Why support the cough reflex?
The coughing reflex agitates the clearance of mucous, the lungs’ natural secretion, which acts as a barrier to trap and remove irritants. Suppressing a cough can hinder this essential process; what we should be doing is making that expectoration
- the capacity to bring mucous up – as effective as it can be as it's an important part of the process.

Is KoffTonic Right for My Horse?
🌿 Ideal for horses who...
- Have developed a seasonal cough due to dust, pollen, or stable irritants.
- Are showing persistent coughing, nasal discharge, or signs of deeper respiratory distress.
- NOTE: If your horse experiences a throat-clearing cough at the start of work, this is normal. However, if it persists throughout exercise or worsens over time, it’s worth reviewing management factors such as bedding, forage quality, or ventilation - or considering targeted support with KoffTonic.
⚠️ Not suitable for horses who...
- Are currently on long-term steroid, immune-suppressant, or diuretic medications unless under veterinary supervision (due to the Glycyrrhiza content).
- Are pregnant or nursing mares.
- Have chronic or allergic airway issues such as COPD/RAO or heaves — see BreathePlus for ongoing respiratory resilience.
Comparisons - which blend?
KoffTonic, BreathePlus, or PollenTonic?
Here’s how each one supports different breathing needs:
→ KoffTonic – for short-term, occasional coughs linked to dust, pollen, or mild irritation. Helps clear mucous and soothe the airways during recovery or after environmental exposure.
→ BreathePlus – for chronic or allergic respiratory issues such as COPD, RAO, or long-term airway inflammation. Supports deeper lung health, immune balance, and resilience.
→ PollenTonic – for seasonal spring pollen-related flare-ups. Best started early in the allergy season to help calm histamine response and reduce reactivity.
If your horse’s cough appears suddenly or coincides with stabling, KoffTonic is the best place to start. For ongoing or recurring respiratory challenges, step up to BreathePlus or pair it in spring with PollenTonic.
