Overview
When the lymphatic system slows down or becomes stagnant, toxins and cellular waste can’t drain away as they should.
This backup causes protein-rich lymph fluid to pool in tissues, most often in the legs, leading to swelling – known as lymphedema , accompanied by pain and stiffness. And because the lymphatic network is the body’s immune and detox superhighway, sluggish lymph can leave cells undernourished, the immune system compromised, and recovery from injury or infection delayed.
Why does lymph flow falter?
There are lots of reasons – from too much standing still (think long stabling or box rest) to injuries, metabolic stress, or even obesity. Some heavier breeds are also genetically more prone.
What happens if it’s left unchecked?
Stagnant lymph can trigger skin thickening or sores, and in chronic cases lead to conditions such as lymphangitis or CPL (chronic progressive lymphedema).

- Galium aparine - One of nature’s finest lymphatic movers. Helps maintain normal lymph drainage, supports the body’s natural detoxification pathways, and encourages fluid balance in stagnant tissues.
- Stellaria media - Cooling and soothing in nature, Chickweed complements Calendula and Cleavers by supporting connective tissue and calm circulation. Particularly valued for easing heat, tightness, and skin irritation associated with lymph congestion.

- Feed 5g/100kg bodyweight per day, i.e. 25g for a 500kg horse.
