The EquiNatural Calendar
The EquiNatural Calendar celebrates the horses behind our community. Not professional models or perfectly staged photoshoots, but the muddy noses, winter whiskers, ridiculous expressions and quiet field moments that make each horse unmistakably themselves.
Each year, we invite UK horse owners to send us one photograph that makes them think, “That’s my horse!”
The EquiNatural team then selects 12 photographs to create a calendar filled with different horses and stories.
And... Every calendar helps another horse. For every EquiNatural Calendar sold, £4.00 is donated to S.A.F.E., a small frontline charity giving real hope to abandoned, neglected and chain-tethered horses and ponies.
S.A.F.E. steps in where others can’t – navigating complex legal hurdles to help equines found in some truly desperate circumstances.
Our Calendar Stars don’t just make us smile throughout the year – together, they help support other horses too.

How to take part
Send us ONE favourite photograph of your horse, together with:
- Their name
- A sentence or two telling us a little about them
- The photographer’s name
- Confirmation that you own the photograph or have the photographer’s permission to submit it – and that you give EquiNatural permission to share, crop or resize it and, if selected, reproduce it in our printed 2027 Calendar and use it when promoting the calendar.

Please send the original, highest-resolution version of your photograph as we’ll need lovely clear images for printing – and preferably landscape if you have one. As well as the horses and their stories, we’ll be considering photograph quality and resolution – and making sure the finished calendar contains a gorgeous mixture of seasons, colours and real-life moments.
And please choose carefully – only one photograph submitted per person.
Submissions close at 11.59pm on Friday 23rd October
Once submissions close, the EquiNatural team will somehow attempt the impossible task of selecting our 12 Calendar Stars – to be revealed on Monday 2 November!
How the Calendar Call-Out works
- The Call-Out opens - Owners send us one favourite high-resolution photograph.
- We meet the horses - Each photograph arrives with the horse’s name and a little of their story.
- The EquiNatural team selects 12 - We consider character, story, image quality, print suitability and the overall mixture of seasons and photographs.
- The Calendar Stars are revealed - The selected horses are introduced to the EquiNatural community.
- The calendar goes to print - Each selected contributor receives two complimentary copies.
- The calendar goes on sale - £4 from every copy sold is donated to S.A.F.E.

What makes a lovely calendar photograph?
Thinking of sending us a photograph? We are nothing if not equi-natural, so just your lovely horse being a horse - no heavy filters, text, stickers or collages
- A landscape orientation where possible
- A little room around the horse for calendar cropping
- Genuine character rather than a technically perfect pose
Above all, choose the photograph that captures your horse perfectly as you know them. We can’t manufacture that look, expression or moment – and we wouldn’t want to!
Submission details and permissions
Who can submit a photograph?
The Calendar Call-Out is open to UK residents aged 18 or over. A parent or legal guardian may submit a photograph on behalf of somebody under 18.
How many photographs can I send?
Only one photograph may be submitted per person, so please choose carefully. Submitting a photograph does not guarantee that it will be selected for the calendar.
What sort of photograph can I submit?
Landscape images are preferred, although we may consider other orientations where the photograph can be cropped successfully for the calendar.
Please do not submit collages or photographs containing added text, stickers, heavy filters or prominent watermarks.
Do I need the photographer’s permission?
Yes. By submitting a photograph, you confirm that you are the photographer and copyright owner, or that you have obtained the copyright owner’s permission to submit it.
If an identifiable person appears in the photograph, you must also have their permission. Where that person is under 18, permission must be obtained from their parent or legal guardian.
Who owns the photograph afterwards?
Copyright remains with the photographer.
By submitting the photograph, you grant EquiNatural non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to share, crop and resize it in connection with the EquiNatural 2027 Calendar Call-Out.
If selected, this permission also allows EquiNatural and its appointed designer and printer to reproduce the photograph in the printed calendar, and allows EquiNatural to use it on our website, social media and emails when introducing and promoting the calendar.
EquiNatural will not use submitted photographs for unrelated product advertising or pass them to another organisation for unrelated use without further permission.
How will the 12 photographs be selected?
The EquiNatural team will consider the horse’s character and story, photograph quality, print suitability and how the photographs work together to create a varied calendar of seasons, colours and real-life moments.
The selected contributors will be contacted by email before the Calendar Stars are publicly revealed.
What will selected contributors receive?
Each selected contributor will receive two complimentary copies of the finished EquiNatural 2027 Calendar. Copies will be sent to a UK delivery address after printing.
How will my information be used?
Your name and email address will be used only to administer the Calendar Call-Out, contact you about your submission and, where applicable, arrange your contributor copies.
Submitting a photograph will not add you to the EquiNatural marketing list.
