2025 is flying! Can you believe we’re already in Week 18? Mid-spring has arrived, the trees are in full bloom, and we’re set to hit a glorious 24-degrees this week - what’s not to love?!
And so to May - the month of mares, sweet itch midge misery, and the spring metabolic issues rumbling on.
The May Checklist
Mares’ Hormone Harmony | Midge Misery & the Sweet Itch Reset | Muscle Matters Liver Toning | Metabolic Carb-Watch
- Hormone harmony: We'll be supporting mares through their seasonal shifts - balancing hormonal cycles, calming stressy behaviour, and nurturing emotional resilience.
- Sweet itch season: We'll be focusing on tackling sweet itch from the inside out - with KPU now identified as the root cause behind the symptoms of itching, inflammation, and immune overload, surface treatments alone are no longer enough.
- Muscle matters - when condition isn’t enough:
Let's look at how hidden muscle loss can impact health, recovery, and performance, especially for our weight watchers, rehab cases, older horses.
- Liver & detox support: The liver plays a key role in metabolising hormones like oestrogen and progesterone, which means a happy liver means a happier, more balanced mare.
- Carb control: And of course, we can't forget our EMS/IR metabolics during May. We'll be keeping a close eye on our metabolic horses as the spring grass risks rumble on.
Here’s to a month of balance, strength, and skin comfort,
with a smooth shift towards early summer
