Ulcers

Our comprehensive range of functional, regenerative supplements, specifically formulated for supporting the eradication of gastric ulcers.

Stomach acid is there for two vitally important reasons; first up, stomach acid is the bodies’ first defence against harmful bacteria, so it's there to kill contamination that's come in on the forage. But - if our horse develops gastric ulcers, and your vet recommends suppressing the acid production with PPIs (proton pump inhibitors (aka any of the ulcer pharma drugs ending in 'zole'), we're letting contaminants enter the small intestine, which will damage the fragile gut microbiome.

Stopping acid production also impairs protein digestion. The acid activates the protein digestive enzyme, pepsinase , into pepsin , without which proteins won't get digested. And when undigested protein gets into the hindgut, the horse is in real trouble.

Stopping taking Omeprazole can be even worse than taking it, as the body becomes reliant on it so the symptoms actually get worse when stopped.

Plant power works more effectively, and with no side effects.
