Cleanse | Activate | Regenerate | Energise
Lyme disease is rarely black-and-white. Your horse may test negative yet still show the subtle signs - stiffness, lethargy, irritability, behavioural shifts, or that persistent “something’s not right” feeling.
Lyme is a whole-body condition: it can disrupt the gut, overload the liver’s detox pathways, strain connective tissues, and drain cellular energy. And because Borrelia hides deep within tissues, antibiotics don’t resolve the full picture - leaving the immune system struggling long after the tick bite.
LymeCARE removes the guesswork. Its three carefully structured stages help stabilise the gut, lighten the body’s toxic load, and rebuild the cellular resilience your horse needs to feel more like themselves again.

Overview
Lyme disease in horses is one of those frustrating, murky conditions — the “great imitator.” Caused by the tick-borne bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi , it rarely shows up with obvious signs and can simmer for weeks – if not months – before symptoms appear. Some horses may show joint stiffness, muscle pain, lethargy, or odd behaviour changes; others might just seem “off” – tired but restless, sore but not obviously lame.
The challenge? Borrelia hides deep in connective tissues – joints, tendons, even the nervous system – making it hard to detect and notoriously resistant to antibiotics. Blood tests are unreliable: negatives don’t rule it out, and positives may simply show past exposure.
When the immune system gets stuck battling this stealth invader, the body tips into chronic immune dysfunction – a tired-and-wired state that leaves the horse sore, stressed, and struggling to heal.
LymeCARE was created for these complex cases. Its layered herbal approach supports the gut, liver, and lymphatics - the body’s natural detox pathways - while helping the immune system regain balance and strength. The aim isn’t just to “chase Lyme,” but to reset cellular health, support resilience, and give your horse a clearer path back to wellbeing.

Is LymeCARE Right for My Horse?
LymeCARE is designed for horses showing the complex, hard-to-pin-down patterns commonly seen with tick-borne immune stress. While not a diagnostic tool, it may be suitable if your horse shows a combination of:
- Unexplained stiffness, intermittent lameness, or body soreness - Especially when it shifts from limb to limb or appears worse after rest.
- Tired-but-wired behaviour - A mix of lethargy, irritability, sensitivity to touch, or “not quite themselves.”
- Muscle tension or loss of topline - D espite good feed, turnout, or normal workload.
- Odd, inconsistent performance changes - Reluctance to go forward, difficulty bending, resistance under saddle, or subtle behavioural shifts.
- Chronic immune drag - Slow recovery from minor illnesses, recurring skin issues, or persistent low-level inflammation.
- History of tick exposure - Or living in a tick-dense area where Lyme is known to circulate.
Important note:
LymeCARE does not treat acute Lyme infection and should not replace veterinary intervention if your horse is febrile, neurologic, or acutely unwell. Instead, it supports the body after tick exposure or during lingering, chronic, or unresolved immune dysfunction.
If your horse’s symptoms overlap with several of the patterns above - especially if you’ve been told “all tests are normal, but something is still off” - LymeCARE offers structured, staged support to help the body rebalance, repair, and regain resilience.
Composition & Feed Guide
Each stage in LymeCARE plays a distinct role - stabilising the gut, supporting detoxification, and restoring cellular resilience.
This synergistic herbal programme helps the body rebalance after tick exposure by nurturing the microbiome, aiding toxin elimination, and supporting mitochondrial recovery for renewed vitality.
LymeCARE is a nutritional, functional food supplement and not veterinary medicine. For more information, refer to Dr Kellon's Horse Sense - ' Nutrition is not 'Alternative' Therapy .

Clinical Considerations
Advisories
- Feed each stage sequentially for 10 days, with a 1-day break between stages, to allow the body to adapt gradually.
- Monitor closely for changes in energy, droppings, comfort, and general demeanour throughout the programme.
- A transient detox response (Herxheimer reaction) may occur in some horses - presenting as temporary stiffness, irritability, loose droppings, skin itching, or general “off-colour” behaviour. This typically resolves within a few days as the body clears metabolites.
- Ensure 24/7 access to quality, stemmy meadow hay to supply cellulose fibre and support the hindgut microbiome during the protocol.
- Provide ample fresh water to aid lymphatic and renal elimination.
- May be fed alongside NSAIDs as nutritional support, but long-term combinations should be discussed with your vet.
- For horses with metabolic overlap (EMS/IR), monitor comfort levels and hydration more closely during Stage 1.
Contraindications & Cautions
- Not suitable for pregnant or nursing mares due to adaptogenic and hormonally active botanicals.
- Avoid use during onset laminitis, as detoxification may temporarily increase circulatory load.
- Use caution with steroid medications(e.g. prednisolone, dexamethasone, inhalers) due to Liquorice Root , which may prolong steroid activity.
- Use veterinary supervision if your horse is receiving anticoagulants or has known liver impairment.
- If a horse is acutely unwell, febrile, or displaying neurological symptoms, consult your vet before commencing the protocol.
Recommended Course
- Feed as a minimum 4-week programme(three 10-day stages + rest days), with a further 6 weeks recommended for deep cellular support after symptoms subside.
- May be repeated seasonally or during periods of immune stress.
