📦 Smart Shopping When You COMBO! Pay 5% less than individual prices
Reset your horse’s foregut health with EquiNatural's UlsaCOMBO - a complete, functional approach to foregut comfort and recovery.
Equine gastric ulcers rarely have a single cause - feeding gaps, poor feeds, stress, pain, mucosal irritation - all feed into the same cycle. UlsaCOMBO supports every angle at once - soothing, buffering, calming and rebuilding for a more settled and comfortable foregut.
This synergistic 4-in-1 blend combines EquiNatural's DuoBute , StressTonic , UlsaTonic and GutAminos to help ease discomfort, calm stress-linked tension, and support regeneration of the stomach’s delicate mucosal lining.
Ideal for horses showing signs of gastric sensitivity, girthiness, tension, or stress-related digestive imbalance.
✨ “ She went from being unrideable to schooling in all gaits in just two days - amazing!”
✨ "Kero’s transformation is amazing - no more girthing tension, and he’s calm and super to ride. It still amazes me!"

Overview
Gastric ulcers are almost always rooted in two things: feeding practices
and stress.
As natural trickle-feeders, horses rely on a constant flow of forage to buffer stomach acid. Unlike us, their stomach never stops producing acid - so when forage runs out, that unbuffered acid quickly begins to irritate the stomach lining.
For stabled horses this is especially challenging. Long gaps between forage, limited movement, and boredom-driven behaviours (weaving, box-walking, wind-sucking, cribbing) all place stress on both the digestive system and the nervous system.
Add in ridden work on an empty stomach - or the daily emotional load of pain - and both squamous ulcers(from acid splash) and glandular/pyloric ulcers(from stress and cortisol) can develop.
Why does stress make ulcers worse?
Because cortisol doesn’t just affect behaviour - it switches off digestion, increases acidity, suppresses immunity, and keeps the body in a wired state where healing becomes almost impossible.
Where UlsaCOMBO helps
UlsaCOMBO brings together four of our most effective blends - DuoBute, StressTonic, UlsaTonic, and GutAminos - to address the foregut from every angle:
- Soothe the irritated stomach lining
- Ease tension in the digestive tract
- Support the gut–nerve connection
- Help restore healthy mucosal tissue
- Settle the stress response linked to glandular/pyloric ulcers
This 4-in-1 programme provides a structured, functional approach to foregut recovery, offering both comfort and long-term stability.
Is UlsaCOMBO Right for My Horse?
UlsaCOMBO is designed for horses showing more significant signs of foregut discomfort, stress-related sensitivity, or the classic tension patterns that often accompany gastric ulceration. If your horse struggles with any of the patterns below, this programme is very likely the right fit.
🌿 Ideal for horses who…
- Show signs of girthiness, tightness, irritability, or sensitivity when tacking up.
- Become grumpy, withdrawn, or reactive to grooming around the ribs or flanks.
- Display stress-linked digestive changes, especially during stabling, travel, or weather shifts.
- Struggle with squamous ulcers(feeding/management-linked) or glandular/pyloric ulcers(stress-linked).
- Experience behaviour changes such as refusing forwardness, napping, overreacting, or shutting down.
- Have recently come off omeprazole, and need stabilising support for the stomach lining and nervous system.
- Are prone to ulcers due to management factors such as:
- limited forage access
- intense training
- box rest
- frequent travel
- stress from herd changes or environment
If your horse feels tense, uncomfortable, or “not themselves,” UlsaCOMBO provides a structured, natural way to help settle and restore the foregut.
⚠️ Not suitable for horses who…
- Are pregnant or nursing, due to adaptogenic and hormonally active herbs (e.g. Ashwagandha, Passiflora).
- Are on steroid medication(e.g. dexamethasone, prednisolone, inhalers), unless under veterinary guidance - Liquorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) may prolong steroid activity.
- Are receiving anticoagulant or blood-thinning medication, due to natural salicylates (Meadowsweet & Willow).
- Have liver dysfunction or a history of fluid retention - monitor closely and seek veterinary approval.
- Are competing under FEI or discipline rules restricting salicylates or Passiflora(always check current rules).

Fussy Eater?
Horses sometimes have their own opinions (and strong tastebuds!), so now and then a new blend might need a little extra encouragement. This doesn’t reflect the quality or efficacy of the product, but rather their natural instinct towards new flavours.

Proactive Support thereafter
The focus now is on maintaining your horse's gut health long-term. By feeding tonifying supplements to support a balanced gut, alongside a diet rich in healthy, natural nutrition, you'll be giving your horse the best chance to thrive.
Have a look at our suggestions below - we're not saying to feed them all - just go with what feels right for you. Metabolic health is a sliding scale, influenced by daily choices that compound over time. Each decision - big or small - helps tip the scales in your horse's favour, ensuring lasting wellness and vitality.
- Think fortify- switch any processed feeds to a grass forage-fibre feed, i.e a meadow cob/chaff, and getting as much quality hay going through the hindgut, while closing the nutrient gap with forage-balanced minerals - see our EquiVita/VitaComplete range.
- BiomeTonic , aka the well-known 'oily herbs', stabilise the intestinal environment, creating an unwelcome environment for pathogen microbes and parasites. Some horses seem to need it permanently; others (like our Mac) do well when fed every couple of weeks or so - it's very much horses for courses so your horse will no doubt tell you.
- WildFed Prebiotics
is beneficial to feed occasionally to add valuable prebiotic roughage and nutrient diversity to the diet. Either add to the feedbowl or sprinkle a handful over hay every other day or so - horses love to seek out the herbs for enrichment.
Clinical Considerations
Advisories
Formulated as a gentle, nutritional foregut support programme for horses showing more significant signs of gastric sensitivity, tension, and stress-related digestive imbalance.
- Contains a blend of soothing, buffering, and adaptogenic botanicals traditionally used to support the stomach lining, digestive comfort, and stress resilience.
- Introduce gradually over 5–7 days to allow the digestive system to adjust to the new phytonutrient profile.
- Ensure constant access to forage , particularly during periods of rest, travel, or confinement, to maintain natural buffering of stomach acid.
- Suitable for short- or long-term use as part of a management plan when fed at recommended levels and alongside a fibre-based diet.
- May be safely used alongside most veterinary medications; however, if your horse is currently prescribed omeprazole, sucralfate, or other antacid therapy, allow a few hours’ gap between feeds to avoid binding or absorption interference.
Contraindications
- Not suitable for pregnant or nursing mares due to inclusion of hormonally active and adaptogenic herbs (e.g. Withania somnifera , Passiflora incarnata ).
- Avoid use in horses on steroid, sedative, or anticoagulant medication without veterinary guidance, as herbs such as Liquorice Root and Nettle may potentiate their effects.
- Caution in horses with liver dysfunction or fluid retention, due to the natural glycyrrhizin content of Liquorice Root ( Glycyrrhiza glabra ).
- Competition horses: check FEI regulations if using blends containing Filipendula ulmaria , Salix alba , and Passiflora incarnata (controlled substances under competition rules).
Potential Drug Interactions
- Liquorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) may prolong the activity of corticosteroids and affect electrolyte balance with prolonged use; limit to 4 weeks continuous feeding followed by a short break.
- Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) and Eleutherococcus senticosus (Siberian Ginseng) are mild adaptogens that may interact with sedatives or drugs influencing cortisol response; concurrent use should be monitored in sensitive horses.
- Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria) and Willow Bark (Salix alba) contain natural salicylates; concurrent use with NSAIDs(e.g. phenylbutazone or flunixin) should be discussed with your vet to avoid additive exposure.
- No known adverse nutrient–nutrient interactions at standard feeding levels.
UlsaCOMBO is a safe, functional nutritional support for equine gastric comfort and foregut resilience. It may be fed short- or long-term, provided pregnancy, steroid, and anticoagulant cautions are observed.
Always ensure ongoing veterinary oversight for horses with diagnosed ulcers or under medical treatment.
