EquiNatural® | Botanical Nutritional Support for Acute, Short-Term Discomfort

Organically grown • Human grade • Not veterinary medicine

1. Important Context for Veterinary Review

Acute equine discomfort — including sudden injury, early laminitis, soft tissue strain, and inflammatory flare-ups — is influenced by mechanical load, vascular compromise, metabolic instability, stress physiology, and systemic inflammatory activity. These presentations are multifactorial and cannot be attributed to any single feed, supplement, or external trigger.

TriBute is a short-term botanical nutritional formula designed to support the body’s natural comfort pathways during acute episodes. It is not a replacement for veterinary diagnosis, NSAID therapy, or emergency intervention.

2. Product Summary

TriBute is a fast-acting, tinctured botanical blend formulated to provide short-term nutritional support to horses experiencing acute pain, early inflammatory flare-ups, sudden foot sensitivity, or the initial stages of laminitis.

Its organic phytonutrients are rapidly absorbed, supporting natural inflammatory balance, musculoskeletal ease, tissue comfort, and systemic steadiness in the critical early hours of an acute event.

Designed as a first-aid–style nutritional support, TriBute fills the gap between acute onset and veterinary guidance. It is not intended for long-term daily use.

3. Clinical Rationale (Nutritional Mechanisms of Action)

Acute discomfort triggers:

  • immediate inflammatory signalling
  • peripheral tissue sensitisation
  • heightened nociceptive input
  • stress-driven cortisol escalation
  • vascular dysregulation (notably in laminitis)
  • muscular guarding and sympathetic activation

These responses have nutritional and physiological implications involving:

  • oxidative stress
  • prostaglandin signalling
  • COX pathways
  • microvascular stability
  • gastric vulnerability during acute stress
  • neuromuscular tension

TriBute’s botanicals have long been used to nutritionally support:

  • natural salicylate pathways (Meadowsweet, Willow)
  • short-term musculoskeletal comfort (Devil’s Claw)
  • inflammatory tone regulation
  • gastric buffering during acute episodes
  • circulatory and tissue comfort

Its tincture format allows rapid absorption, aligning with its acute-phase purpose.

4. Nutritional Indications (Non-Diagnostic)

TriBute may be considered as short-term nutritional support for horses experiencing:

  • sudden-onset discomfort
  • acute injury or strain
  • early laminitis (heat, pulses, foot soreness)
  • acute inflammatory flare-ups
  • soft tissue sensitivity
  • discomfort requiring fast-absorbing support
  • transitional support while resting and awaiting veterinary assessment

Not a treatment for laminitis, injury, or medical conditions.

Botanical Safety Preface

Botanicals provide nutritional support, not medicinal treatment. Individual responses vary based on forage, diet, stress load, metabolic status, and underlying health. The following descriptions reflect traditional and nutritional uses, not medicinal claims.

Herb List

  • Filipendula ulmaria (Meadowsweet)
  • Salix alba (White Willow Bark)
  • Harpagophytum procumbens (Devil’s Claw)

6. Herb Micro-Monographs

Filipendula ulmaria (Meadowsweet)
A mucilage-rich herb supplying natural salicylates. Supports normal inflammatory balance while offering traditional gastric-soothing and systemic comfort benefits during acute tension or stress.

Salix alba (White Willow Bark)
Source of natural salicylates supporting the body’s innate comfort pathways. Helps sustain steady inflammatory responses and ease acute tissue sensitivity. Traditionally valued as a gentler alternative to synthetic NSAIDs.

Harpagophytum procumbens (Devil’s Claw)
Traditionally used for rapid musculoskeletal comfort. Supports short-term ease of movement, joint suppleness, and acute inflammatory balance during sudden discomfort. Not suitable for competition horses under FEI rules.

7. Medication Considerations

TriBute contains natural salicylate-bearing botanicals and must be used with strict veterinary awareness.

Veterinary oversight is required when used alongside:

  • NSAIDs (phenylbutazone, flunixin, meloxicam, etc.)
Do NOT combine. Natural salicylates + NSAIDs may heighten gastric risk.
  • Anticoagulants
    — Willow bark has theoretical platelet-influencing properties.
  • Corticosteroids
    — Caution due to gastric considerations during acute stress.
  • Drugs affecting gastric mucosa
    — Salicylates may interact with mucosal integrity pathways.
  • Competition horses (FEI/discipline rules)
    — Devil’s Claw and salicylates are prohibited substances.

No clinically significant pharmacodynamic interactions have been documented at nutritional levels, but NSAID avoidance is mandatory.

8. Feeding Guidance

Tincture:
6ml per 100kg bodyweight daily (30ml for 500kg horse).
Shake before use.
Fast-absorbing; divide dose if necessary.

Short-Term Use:
Designed for
up to 6–8 weeks maximum before transitioning to DuoBute for ongoing support.

Sensitivity Advisory:
If any unexpected sensitivity occurs, discontinue and consult a veterinarian immediately.

9. Clinical Considerations

Advisories

  • Use only for short-term, acute-phase nutritional support.
  • Ideal during early laminitis, sudden injury, or acute flare-ups.
  • Supervise closely during laminitic episodes; rest and veterinary guidance essential.
  • Rotate to DuoBute once the acute phase has stabilised.
  • Contains natural salicylates — check competition rules.
  • Not a substitute for emergency veterinary care.

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy or nursing mares.
  • Horses receiving NSAIDs (Bute, Danilon, Metacam, etc.).
  • Confirmed or suspected gastric ulcers.
  • Known salicylate sensitivity.
  • Use with caution in horses with bleeding disorders.
  • Not for long-term use (>8 weeks).

10. Supporting Products (Nutritional Context)

  • DuoBute — long-term comfort support post-acute phase
  • LeakyGutCOMBO — supportive nutrition for stress-linked gastric vulnerability
  • MagCARE — muscular tension support during injury recovery
  • BioCARE — antioxidant + cellular nutrition post-strain

11. Standard Nutritional Disclaimer

TriBute is produced from organically grown botanicals and provided as a nutritional, functional food supplement. It is not veterinary medicine and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. Veterinary supervision is essential when a horse is under medical care, showing severe symptoms, or experiencing acute pain.
