Product Details

Glucosamine sulphate provides a high-potency, bioavailable source of glucosamine, a key nutrient essential for healthy joint function and found in high concentrations within joint fluid.

If your horse is starting to feel a little stiffer, or you’re looking to support their joints as part of a longer-term plan, glucosamine sulphate is a key building block for cartilage and joint fluid, helping to maintain smooth, comfortable movement as part of everyday joint support.

We use the sulphate form - the version the body recognises and can use most effectively - making it a simple, reliable option for supporting joint structure over time.

If you’re looking for a more complete joint blend, this forms the foundation of our JointReflexa , where it’s combined with additional nutrients for broader mobility support.

Perfect for active and older horses alike.

Overview

The liver recognises Glucosamine sulphate as the natural version of glucosamine (as opposed to the more commonly used synthetic Glucosamine HCL) and gets into the joints with positive improvement. Glucosamine HCL can't, because try as it might, the liver can’t convert HCL to a sulphate.

Cartilage is naturally produced by the body, but over time, it can wear down and result in grinding bones and other issues. This can lead to extreme pain and difficulty in moving. Research shows that supplementing with Glucosamine could help slow down cartilage deterioration. In addition, it may lessen inflammation from active usage and help support normal functioning of the joints.

Composition & Feed Guide

Composition

100% pure Glucosamine sulphate powder

Feed

4g/100kg bodyweight per day to start with (for the average 500kg horse add 20g daily to feed), reducing to 2g/100kg bodyweight for maintenance once comfortable.

  • 1-level 15ml scoop = 15g
  • Human grade.
  • Manufactured to ISO, BP, USP & EP requirements and/or food grade specifications.
  • Keep tightly sealed and in a cool place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
  • UK certificate of analysis available on request.

Clinical Considerations

Glucosamine is a naturally occurring amino-sugar compound found in joint cartilage and synovial fluid, widely used to support joint comfort and mobility in horses.

Generally considered safe and well tolerated at recommended levels.

Advisories

  • No known contraindications in pregnancy or lactation at nutritional levels.
  • For horses with insulin resistance (EMS/PPID), glucosamine is typically well tolerated, though monitoring is recommended in metabolically sensitive horses, as it is technically a glucose derivative.
  • In human medicine, glucosamine may enhance the effects of anticoagulants such as warfarin; although not demonstrated in horses, theoretical caution may be noted when combined with other anticoagulant-supportive compounds (e.g. vitamin E, omega oils).
