Overview
Sarcoids are the most common skin tumours in horses. They aren’t contagious or cancerous, but they can be stubborn, unpredictable, and deeply frustrating to manage. Research has shown a strong connection with the bovine papillomavirus (BPV), with studies finding viral DNA in almost every sarcoid tumour - and even in surrounding ‘normal’ skin. This helps explain why surgical removal or topical treatments often see recurrence.
Because sarcoids are thought to reflect a systemic immune imbalance, the focus shifts away from simply tackling the visible lump, and towards supporting the whole horse. Immune strength, gut health, and resilience are all key pieces of the puzzle.

Advisories
- Suitable for ongoing nutritional support of sarcoid-sensitive horses where immune balance and skin health are priorities
- For horses recovering from topical or veterinary sarcoid treatments, allow skin to stabilise before reintroducing any new supplement.
Contraindications
- Not suitable for pregnant or nursing mares due to the hormonally active and cleansing properties of Pau D’Arco and Rosehips.
- Not advised for horses on immune-suppressant or steroid medications without veterinary guidance.
- Discontinue during acute illness, fever, or active infection until the horse has stabilised.
