MellowMare is designed as your foundational, daily support for hormonally reactive mares. From there, support can be adapted to your mare’s individual needs as they fluctuate:

• Valerian tincture – for short-term support during more intense or reactive phases.
• DuoBute or TriBute – where seasons are physically uncomfortable or associated with muscular tension/spasms.
• If your mare’s behaviour feels less linked to her cycle and more consistently unsettled, it’s often a sign that broader nervous system support is needed. In these cases, StressTonic may be a more appropriate starting point.

1. Vitex agnus-castus (Agnus castus berry) – A key botanical for hormonal equilibrium, supporting the pituitary–ovarian axis, helping to stabilise irregular or heightened oestrus cycles without affecting fertility.
2. Matricaria recutita (Chamomile) – A gentle nervine and digestive soother that supports the gut–nervous system. Helps ease tension, both emotional and muscular.
3. Viburnum opulus (Cramp Bark) – Renowned antispasmodic traditionally used to ease uterine tension and support comfortable muscular relaxation.
4. Melissa officinalis (Lemon Balm) – A gentle nervine herb that settles restlessness and irritability, while also supporting digestive tone.
5. Silybum marianum (Milk Thistle) – A hepatic tonic that aids healthy liver metabolism of hormones, helping to clear excess oestrogen and maintain balanced endocrine function.
6. Rubus idaeus (Raspberry Leaf) – Long valued for supporting tone and elasticity in the uterine muscles, promoting natural cycle rhythm and comfort throughout the mare’s seasons.

• Use cautiously alongside sedatives or steroid medications, as metabolism may be affected.

• Pregnant or nursing mares – not suitable (uterine-toning/hormonally active herbs).
• Do not combine with hormonal medications (e.g. Regumate, altrenogest) unless under vet supervision.
