Overview
Pain is one of the most disruptive experiences for horses, significantly impacting their quality of life. Chronic discomfort can persist long after the initial cause, often becoming more debilitating over time. Managing discomfort effectively is essential for restoring your horse’s vitality and maintaining their long-term health.
We usually hear pain described as either acute (think laminitis flare-up, sudden injury, basically short-term) or chronic (think arthritis, long-term tendon strain), and more based on the duration of the pain, rather than its intensity.
- Acute pain actually has a function - it's the body’s alarm bell, an emergency signal saying "stop, something's wrong," and puts the body in protective mode by triggering an immediate inflammatory response to prevent tissue damage due to a harmful event. Demanding rest and support, acute pain is usually short-term - hours to days, and is typically the type of pain associated with surgery or trauma, i.e. laminitis. See our TriBute.
- Chronic pain is more complex - it outlives its origincal cause and brings no real benefit, protective or otherwise, lasting weeks to months or even years, and often permanent. As per its name, it's typically the type of pain associated with chronic conditions, i.e. arthritis. Worse, chronic pain can also be biologically destructive to the body - it keeps stress hormones like cortisol elevated, which doesn’t just affect mood – it actively suppresses the immune system and kidney function, increasing oxidative stress throughout the body. Tincture
Our human-grade, certified organic tinctures provide a ready-to-absorb potent source of phytonutrients, for immediate absorption into the bloodstream.
- Feed 6ml/100kg bodyweight per day, i.e. 30ml for a 500kg horse. Shake well before use.
Composition
Contraindications
- Not recommended to feed for longer than 6-8 weeks.
- Not to be fed alongside Phenylbutazone / Danilon or similar.
- Not to be fed if your horse has confirmed ulcers.
- Harpagophytum procumbens is a banned substance so check your competition rules.
- Both Filipendula ulmaria and Salix alba contain Salicylic acid which is a controlled substance , so always check competition rules.
- Supplements of any kind should be fed with caution to the pregnant or nursing mare so always seek veterinary advice.
