Is your horse moving a little less freely than they used to?

If your horse is taking longer to warm up, feeling less supple in their work, or simply getting to an age where you're thinking more about keeping them comfortably active, that's where we'd look at JointReflexa.

When movement changes, it's natural to think about stiffness and comfort. But there's another part of the picture - the tissues that make movement possible.

JointReflexa is our daily nutritional blend of glucosamine sulphate, MSM, L-glutamine and acetyl L-carnitine, formulated to support the structure behind the movement .

"This makes a massive difference – flexible and supple when on it, stiff and trippy if not!"

The ideal choice for active horses, ageing horses, and those rebuilding after injury.

Overview – there's more to movement than the joints

Speaking with clients over the years, what we hear is that when a horse starts feeling less comfortable in their movement, most of us naturally focus on comfort first.

Completely understandable - but comfortable movement can only start with healthy structure. Every stride your horse takes relies on a remarkable amount of engineering happening beneath the surface - cartilage, joint fluid, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue, and muscle all working together every time your horse takes a step.

And over time, age, workload, injury, and simple wear-and-tear place increasing demands on those tissues.

This is where JointReflexa fits into the picture, combining key nutritional building blocks used throughout the joint, connective tissue, and muscle systems - helping maintain the structures that support strength, flexibility, resilience, and long-term mobility.

JSTTonic is our herbal option when day-to-day stiffness and ease of movement are the main priorities.

JointReflexa focuses on supplying nutrients associated with the tissues and muscle function that support normal movement.

In simple terms?JSTTonic supports how movement feels, whereas JointReflexa supports the structures that make movement possible.

How JointReflexa fits into your horse's support plan

JointReflexa is worth considering when you're looking at ongoing nutritional support for joints, connective tissue and muscles, rather than comfort alone.

You might recognise your horse here:

✔ They're in regular work or training, and you want to support the tissues involved in movement.

✔ They're getting older, but you're keen to keep them active.

✔ They're returning to work after an injury, with veterinary guidance.

✔ You want a consistent daily approach rather than waiting for stiffness to appear.

It's an option for horses whose owners want to focus on the tissues involved in everyday movement.

In short: if you want to maintain or rebuild the structure that supports movement, JointReflexa is the foundation that keeps everything strong, supple, and working as it should.

From there, support can be adapted depending on what you're seeing.

Supporting everyday mobility

  • JSTTonic – where stiffness, wear-and-tear, or age-related mobility changes are becoming part of the picture.

Adding comfort support (as needed)

  • DuoBute – for additional day-to-day comfort where movement feels restricted or tight
  • TriBute – for short-term support during flare-ups, heavier work, or the occasional overenthusiastic field hoon.

Together, these create a layered approach – supporting both the physical tissues involved in movement and the comfort of the horse using them.

Foundation support

Strong joints, connective tissue, and muscles depend on more than targeted nutrients alone. Supporting your horse's baseline nutrition with a forage-based mineral blend such as VitaComplete or EquiVita helps provide the wider nutritional foundations that mobility and recovery rely upon every day.

In summary

Use JointReflexa to support the structure behind movement – layer JSTTonic for stiffness/arthritic comfort, and bring in DuoBute or TriBute when extra support is needed.

Composition & feed guide

*JointReflexa is a nutritional, functional food supplement and not veterinary medicine. See Dr Kellon's Horse Sense - Nutrition is not 'Alternative' Therapy .

What's in JointReflexa?

Each ingredient in JointReflexa plays a targeted role in maintaining your horse’s comfort, flexibility, and joint fluidity.

  1. Glucosamine Sulphate – An amino sugar associated with cartilage and other connective tissues. Commonly included in joint supplements as part of a long-term nutritional approach.
  2. L-Glutamine – The body’s most abundant amino acid, involved in normal protein metabolism and used by several tissues throughout the body, including muscle and intestinal cells.
  3. MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl Methane) – An organic sulphur compound used in supplements intended to support normal connective tissue function.
  4. Acetyl L-Carnitine – A bioavailable form of carnitine that fuels cellular energy metabolism, particularly the processes that help cells use fatty acids for energy.

Feed guide

  • 5g/100kg bodyweight per day, i.e. 25g for a 500kg horse.

Footnotes

  • Human grade.
  • Amino acids manufactured to ISO, BP, USP & EP requirements and/or food grade specifications.
  • NB. Each ingredient is available separately - See our Shop/Individual Items/Nutrients page.

Energetics - how JointReflexa works

When it comes to nutritional formulas, the architecture is simply about which nutrients are included, why they're there, and how they work together.

JointReflexa brings together nutrients associated with joint-related structures, connective tissue and muscle metabolism.

Unlike our herbal blends, its role is nutritional, and not designed to influence a particular response pathway.

How the formula works

  1. Cartilage-related nutrition: Glucosamine Sulphate - Glucosamine is associated with compounds found naturally in cartilage and other connective tissues. It's widely used in equine joint supplements, although research into measurable improvements in mobility remains mixed.
  2. Sulphur-containing support: MSM - MSM supplies organic sulphur, an element found in many biological compounds. It's included in joint and connective-tissue supplements, with some research exploring its potential role in exercise-related responses.
  3. Amino acid support: L-Glutamine - Glutamine participates in normal amino acid and protein metabolism. It adds another aspect of general tissue nutrition, although that shouldn't be confused with evidence that supplementation directly repairs injured tendons or ligaments.
  4. Cellular energy metabolism: Acetyl L-Carnitine - Carnitine is involved in transporting fatty acids for energy production within cells, bringing a muscle-metabolism dimension to the formula.

The big picture

JointReflexa combines glucosamine sulphate, MSM, L-glutamine and acetyl L-carnitine as part of a long-term nutritional approach to supporting normal movement.

Four nutrients, different roles, one straightforward daily blend.

JointReflexa FAQs

How do I know if JointReflexa is right for my horse?

Think about the horse who's still happily getting on with life, but perhaps isn't moving quite as freely as they used to.

JointReflexa is our daily nutritional blend for the joint, connective-tissue and muscle systems that make movement possible.

It brings together glucosamine sulphate, MSM, L-glutamine and acetyl L-carnitine, each with a different role in normal tissue nutrition or cellular metabolism.

Think of it as supporting the structures your horse relies upon every time they take a step.

What's the difference between JointReflexa, JSTTonic and DuoBute?

A very good question, because although all three sit within our mobility range, they have quite different jobs.

  • JointReflexa is our nutritional choice, supplying compounds associated with cartilage, connective tissue and muscle metabolism.
  • JSTTonic is our herbal formula for horses where arthritis/everyday stiffness are the main priorities.
  • DuoBute is our traditional herbal comfort blend, considered where the horse seems to need additional support for day-to-day physical discomfort.

So we'd start by asking what you're actually noticing.

  • Is your priority long-term nutritional support for the movement system? JointReflexa.
  • Is arthritis becoming the more obvious concern? We'd look at JSTTonic.
  • Is everyday comfort the bigger issue? That's where DuoBute may have a place.

Different jobs, rather than three versions of the same thing.

Is JointReflexa just for older horses?

Not at all. Older horses are an obvious group to consider because ageing and years of movement place ongoing demands on joints, muscles and connective tissues.

But younger, active horses rely on exactly the same structures.

JointReflexa may also be worth considering for horses in regular work or those returning to exercise after a period of reduced activity.

It's about nutritional support for the tissues involved in movement, not simply waiting until a horse reaches a certain birthday.

Can JointReflexa help my horse recover from a tendon or ligament injury?

JointReflexa contains nutrients involved in normal tissue and protein metabolism, so it can be useful within a wider nutritional support plan during rehabilitation.

How long should I feed JointReflexa before deciding whether it's helping?

JointReflexa is designed for daily nutritional support rather than an immediate change in comfort or movement.

The tissues involved in normal movement are constantly maintained and remodelled, so we'd think in terms of a longer-term feeding approach rather than expecting a noticeable difference after a few days.

We'd suggest reviewing your horse's overall movement, workload, comfort and condition over time, while keeping their veterinary, farriery and management needs in the picture.

And if stiffness or lameness is new, worsening or persistent, don't wait for a supplement to work before investigating it.

Do I still need EquiVita or VitaComplete if I'm feeding JointReflexa?

Yes, if your horse's forage-based diet needs that nutritional foundation.

JointReflexa supplies four specific nutrients associated with joint-related structures, connective tissue and muscle metabolism.

But it isn't a mineral balancer, and it doesn't replace the wider nutrients needed for normal tissue maintenance, hoof growth, muscle function and everyday health.

That's where EquiVita or VitaComplete comes in, depending on how much fresh grazing or conserved forage your horse is eating.

Think of the mineral balancer as the everyday nutritional foundation, with JointReflexa providing more targeted support where there's a reason to consider it.

Because there's not much point concentrating on the joints while forgetting to feed the rest of the horse!
