POLLENTONIC *Organic herbal blend for horses - airway-ease, immune-calming, spring comfort
Help your horse manage seasonal spring tree-pollen reactions with PollenTonic, specifically formulated for the spring tree pollen allergy season.
Spring pollen reactions may look mild from the outside - but when you’ve lived through it with your horse, you know it’s anything but.
Many horses start to react to tree pollens in early spring, often showing signs like watery eyes, nose rubbing, or light headshaking - especially on windy or high-pollen days.
PollenTonic is designed to support these early seasonal reactions
by using herbs traditionally known to support seasonal comfort
through the eyes, nose and upper airways . It’s a gentle way to help horses feel more comfortable as pollen levels begin to rise.

Important Note
If your horse’s spring sensitivity begins to escalate beyond the eyes and upper airways, you may prefer PollenCOMBO
– our more comprehensive 3-in-1 seasonal support, combining PollenTonic, KoffTonic and Spirulina, into one comprehensive blend.

Overview
Seasonal reactions are now increasingly common in horses – and spring tree pollens can be one of the most challenging triggers.
Then along come our hot and humid
summers, presenting a deeper respiratory congestion for those affected horses from long grass pollens.
Formulated for the upper-airway spring stage, PollenTonic addresses the tree pollen symptoms by supporting the immune system's over-reaction to the allergens, i.e.:
- watery or irritated eyes
- nose rubbing
- intermittent headshaking
- unsettled behaviour on windy or high-pollen days
This is a blend for seasonal management, not deep respiratory support – and it’s best used early, as part of a broader spring routine.
Pollen allergy - more than a respiration problem
Pollen allergy was a personal battle for one of Carol's (EquiNatural's founder) horses - dear old Kelso, who planted the seed for EquiNatural. Over the years, we've learned that pollen allergy in all its forms - spring tree pollens and summer grass pollens – are never just surface deep.
Increasingly, both research and clinical observation suggest these horses are dealing with deeper, whole-system imbalance involving the gut, liver, kidneys, immune system, and microbiome.
Recent research (2021) saw an overlap between pollen allergy patterns and the broader KPU spectrum – a complex, multi-system metabolic sydrome - where hindgut instability and impaired nutrient pathways create mounting metabolic pressure throughout the system. For more information, visit our KPU page .
This becomes more noticeable during pollen and midge season, when environmental triggers place additional pressure on an already reactive system, driving excessive "autoimmune" histamine reactions. Cue pollen allergy reactions and sweet itch.
Is PollenTonic right for your horse?
PollenTonic is a good fit when your horse shows early spring, upper-airway sensitivity – the itchy, reactive stage that comes with rising tree pollen.
✔ Watery, irritated, or runny eyes
as pollen levels begin to rise
✔ Nose rubbing
on legs, fence posts, you name it...
✔ Light or intermittent headshaking
✔ Sensitivity that feels focused around eyes, nose, and sinuses – not the chest
✔ You’re noticing the same spring pattern returning each year
In short: if your horse is showing itchy, reactive, upper-airway spring sensitivity, PollenTonic is the blend that helps take the edge off before it may develop into something deeper.
How PollenTonic fits into your horse’s support plan
PollenTonic is designed as your first-line support for early-stage, upper-airway seasonal sensitivity – helping to settle itchy, reactive responses as pollen levels begin to rise.
Used early, it can help take the edge off and support comfort through the eyes, nose, and upper airways during spring.
That said - if symptoms begin to intensify, extend beyond the upper airways onto the chest, or return year after year, it’s often a sign that there is more going on beneath the surface.
From there, support can be adapted depending on what you’re seeing:
- PollenCOMBO – when seasonal sensitivity becomes stronger or begins to affect the throat
- BreathePlus – where deeper respiratory involvement or longer-term airway support is needed
For recurring or whole-system patterns:
- KPUCOMBO – where pollen sensitivity sits alongside other ongoing issues such as gut instability, skin reactivity, hoof quality, or general sensitivity
In these cases, pollen reactions are often part of a broader pattern linked to the KPU spectrum, where deeper metabolic imbalance places pressure on the immune system.
KPUCOMBO provides more comprehensive support across the gut–liver pathway and helps stabilise the underlying patterns that can drive recurring seasonal reactions.
In short:
Start with PollenTonic for early seasonal support – and if the pattern deepens or keeps returning, it’s time to look more closely at the bigger picture with KPUCOMBO.

Energetic architecture - the synergy behind PollenTonic
Energetic architecture describes how a blend is formulated to support systems working together, rather than suppressing symptoms or forcing a response.
PollenTonic is designed around the early-stage pollen reaction pathway- where immune over-reactivity, histamine release, and upper-airway irritation begin before deeper respiratory involvement develops.
Its role is not to shut the immune system down, but to steady it, helping the body respond more proportionately to spring tree pollens.
Functional categories – pollen support in action
- Immune modulation -
Urtica, Withania, Achillea
Supporting a calmer, more measured seasonal pattern. - Upper-airway & ocular comfort -
Euphrasia, Inula, Mentha
Nourishing the tissues most exposed to pollen first. - Mucosal soothing & tissue protection -
Glycyrrhiza, Matricaria
Supporting comfort where irritation can trigger rubbing and sensitivity. - Circulatory & microvascular support -
Ginkgo, Achillea
Supporting normal circulation to delicate upper-airway and ocular tissues. - Fluid balance & gentle clearance -
Taraxacum folia
Supporting normal fluid dynamics during seasonal change.
Clinical considerations / veterinary reference
PollenTonic is a gentle, supportive blend designed to help maintain seasonal spring comfort and normal respiratory function.
Advisories
- For best results, begin feeding 4–6 weeks before spring, where possible.
- Ensure constant access to forage and water.
- Horses with deeper seasonal congestion, persistent cough, or recurring respiratory patterns may be better suited to PollenCOMBO or BreathePlus – please contact us for guidance.
- May be fed throughout spring as part of a broader seasonal routine.
Contraindications
- Not suitable for pregnant or nursing mares due to aromatic and traditionally active botanicals.
- Liquorice Root (Glycyrrhiza) may prolong corticosteroid activity – avoid use alongside steroid medications unless under veterinary guidance.
- Use caution in horses with impaired liver function, kidney disease, fluid retention, or electrolyte imbalance, as Liquorice may influence water regulation.
- Herbs supporting circulation (e.g. Ginkgo, Achillea) should be used with care alongside anticoagulant or antiplatelet medications.
- Not advised for severe or atypical headshaking patterns occurring outside seasonal triggers.
