Details

We’re now seeing allergen reactions pretty much all year round, with spring tree pollens causing a distressing histamine intolerance, followed by our hot and humid summers presenting a deeper respiratory congestion from the grass pollens.

The root cause? It's all down to an over-reaction by the body's immune system, although recent science has now identified it as a much Bigger Picture - see our Blog Why does my horse react to the spring pollens?

Recommendations

  • Feed for 4-6 weeks before symptoms typically appear. Around end June/July when the air turns humid/muggy, switch to our BreathePlus.
  • Spirulina is said to help prevent histamine release and is also a potent regulator of the immune system. Add 5g/100kg bodyweight daily into feed.
  • Feeding Linseed (Micronised) provides a rich source of the Omega-3 fatty acid, Alpha Linolenic Acid, which is both anti-inflammatory and thought to benefit lung function.

Reviews

  • Can I just say how impressed I am. Such a relief to have my mare healthy after vet meds not working. Regards Sue.
  • Excellent! We have tried various products recommended for headshakers, with varying results. Decided to try PollenTonic when my previous product ran out. Our headshaking mare is now retired, so I can't comment on how well this works when ridden, but she is 100% happier out in the field and no longer headshakes or rubs her eyes which she used to do and would become quite distressed. Will definitely be buying another back next spring - Misty says thank you!
